Christmas is creeping up on me at a terrible speed. I find little time for blog surfing, and for posting, so my newest collages will be my Christmas greeting to you: What ever you celebrate, have a wonderfull time and a Happy New Year too! So many thoughts of change are coming up in this house, that I have started a journal to keep track of them. Untill now, I only kept a studio log. The more personal journals I kept years ago, were mostly in written form. I found it difficult to keep an artists journal, where I explored my feelings and thoughts visually. But it seems to be working for me now!
I like to cut words from a newspaper as the occasional prompt for my journaling.
And as you can see, I love layering.
My techniques vary from monoprint, to nature print, to stamping, to drawing, and collaging and mostly in combination.
This little journal I bought at the Frankfurter Buchmesse (book fair) last year. They have a section with handmade books and unique artists books. Never ending inspiration! Next year I should bring my camera... only, then I won't have so much space for the books I'll hopefully be buying... ah well!
I can't wait to get full access to my studio again, so that I can work with this rice paper technique I learned last year. My studio is momentarily occupied, due to refurnishing, which leaves me with nothing but a small table to work at. But as my japanese teacher back in art school said: "It is not important how much space you have to create in. Inside your head, you have all the space you can possibly imagine! " Unfortunately I have forgotten his name... how is it possible to forget the name of a person who otherwise left unforgettable marks in your memory? He also advised us to keep a journal! Because you can quickly jot down or sketch your ideas and thus free up your mind for new and exciting things.
